Technology

Our patented technology converts biomass waste into a powerful and clean drop-in, low-carbon Advanced fuel (or also known as second-generation biofuel).

At its core, our technology uses a mature process known since the 1980s. It has been through years of dedicated R&D that we have been able to harness the technology and reach its commercial and scalable potential.

The novel conversion technology produces a waste derived bio synthetic fuel that complies with diesel regulations such as EN590 and ASTM. Furthermore, we can produce this fuel efficiently at low-cost and currently with 85% fewer GHGs than traditional fossil-based fuel production. Our aim is to continue reducing the carbon intensity of our fuels, and confident we can produce carbon-neutral and -negative fuels.

Our plants are scalable, self-sufficient, cost-effective and profitable commercial opportunities, all while remaining sustainable and green.

Key Features

Efficient

Our technology uses an efficient one-step process for converting biomass into synthetic waste-derived diesel, reducing the amount of energy needed and therefore reducing the cost per litre.

Sustainable & Green

Our Advanced drop-in ULSD fuel currently has 85% fewer GHGs than traditional fossil-based fuel, making it a sustainable and climate-friendly solution.

Modular Scalable

Scalable

Our plants are designed as modular infrastructures, allowing it's size and therefore production to be scaled up as required. Plant production can be as small as 150 litres/hour to 2,400 litres/hour and beyond.

Cost-effective & Viable

Our efficient conversion process means XFuel is able to produce high quality fuel at a low cost, that is comparable to fossil fuel. We can therefore deliver profitable and viable projects regardless of whether we are able to use subsidies or ROCs.

Decentralised & Off-Grid

Given the necessary feedstock, our plants are self-sufficient and therefore able to be placed in remote off-grid locations. Our technology is ideal for industries that committed to reducing their impact and improve their energy stability, such as in mining.

Clean & Powerful

The fuel that we produce is clean, powerful, and fits within diesel regulations such as EN590 and ASTM. Our fuel has a higher Cetane number, requiring less of it than other fuels to produce the same amount of energy.
